The Florida Department of Health Celebrates National Public Health Week April 3-7! DOH – Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy Counties utilizes community outreach as a means of providing education and resources for the residents of the tri-county area to improve their health. Areas in which our outreach efforts emphasis are healthy diet, exercise, personal hygiene, tobacco use, chronic disease, community health improvement planning and other emerging public health threats as they arise. As a part of the community outreach program DOH – DGL coordinates the efforts of the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The CHIP provides framework for coordinating efforts between private businesses, community based organizations, municipalities, governmental agencies and the general public. The current CHIP focuses on health equity, chronic disease prevention, access to care, tobacco use and promoting our outdoor recreational opportunities. If you are interested in learning more about your county’s CHIP or to have our staff provide education to your group please contact Kyle Roberts at 352-463-3120 ext. 4003 or email at kyle.roberts@flhealth.gov.
